Very high electrical costs. Broken ac. – Beaverton HVAC Tips and Reviews

New Tip: Very high electrical costs. Broken ac.
Shared By Furnace Repair Financing Beaverton Experts…

Hi, hoping I could get some help. My ac has been broken for about 2 weeks. Fan still runs but the unit wont cool so I've been leaving the fan on just to keep air moving while I worked on getting someone out to fix the unit. My daily power costs during this period have been about 6 dollars a day if I leave the fan on all day and 3 dollars if I turn it off while I'm at work. Well for no apparent reason the past 4 days my power has skyrocketed to 18 to 24 dollars a day. This is just running the fan, no cooling. What could possibly be causing this? I have an hvac friend coming to check the unit out but I am really at a loss for what could be drawing this much power. If it helps I live in Florida and the temperature in my home has been hotter the past 4 days, even with the fan the temperature in my home has been 4 degrees hotter than the temperature outside which is also strange. Running just the fan usually drops the temp 2-3 degrees compared to the outside? Any thoughts would be really helpful.
